I leave you today with a song that I can't stop listening to. In a week that has felt heavy and difficult, it is a calming force. The words speak truth and life into the lies that easily capture my mind. If you're like me, maybe you're wondering this week if God is big enough. You're wondering if He is truly bigger than your circumstances. If He is truly even present in your day-to-day moments. When our weeks are difficult, full, and challenging, He is there. When you have no place left to go, He is there. When dishes are piled high, the laundry is overdue, and dinner goes unplanned. He is there.
We grow during these weeks. We grow in our knowledge of what it means to become more like Christ. Our difficult weeks and suffering pale in comparison to the redemptive suffering Jesus Christ experienced for you and for me. His suffering had a purpose. He has a purpose for you.
"Make no mistake," He says, "if you let Me, I will make you perfect. The moment you put yourself in My hands, that is what you are in for. Nothing less, or other, than that. You have free will, and if you choose, you can push Me away. But if you do not push Me away, understand that I am going to see this job through. Whatever suffering it may cost you in your earthly life,..., whatever it costs Me, I will never rest, nor let you rest, until you are literally perfect -- until My Father can say without reservation that He is well pleased with you, as He said He was well pleased with Me. This I can do and will do. But I will not do anything less."
- (C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity, Book 4, Ch.9)
May these words bring you strong encouragement and wild strength as you enter into your weekends.
