Well Hello January! You've been delightfully chilly and oh so snowy. And I can't decide whether I absolutely love how beautiful you can be or how awfully isolating you feel. As I hunker down inside for the next few days and avoid the sub-zero temperatures, I'll take advantage of all the inspiration happening over on pinterest lately. I've been craving all things bright and colorful, possibly overcompensating for the dark days of winter. But now that I know where we'll be living in Milwaukee (pictures to come soon!), I'm also taking these cold days to dream up our future home. Here's a few ways for you to make your own spaces a bit brighter during these winter months::
^^Consider white walls. These are the spaces, when I create and plan for our future space, that I use as my inspiration (I can't wait to show you pictures of the real thing soon!). Our space is filled to the brim with freshly painted white walls and beautifully refinished hardwood floors. And the light that comes through the windows is downright dreamy reflecting off all the white. I think it just might feel like summer all year round.
^^Go Abstract and Geometric. Whether it's a colorful, abstract piece or a neutral geometric pattern, artwork can really finish a space and add a touch of your personality. Both this space and this space have a beautiful eclectic mix of abstract and geometric artwork! I'll be sharing a few of my own Do-It-Yourself options for artwork in your own home soon.
^^Add a punch of color without painting your walls. I tend to be drawn to color in my accessories. Pillows, throws, artwork, or accent furniture are the ideal way to add color and pattern that can be easily changed with evolving tastes. Red happens to be a color I've always been drawn too. I adore how these red chairs pop against the natural tones of the room. And this rug adds a subtle touch of fun to the warmth of the leather sofa. For our own home, I've picked out the most beautiful red rocking chair that I can't wait to show you! What pop of color could you add to your space?
What will you do to brighten up your space this winter?
p.s. I'll be sharing the before photographs of our new home soon! And as I dive back into blogging this year you'll see more Interior Design, more about our move to Milwaukee, more of our adventures exploring our new neighborhood, more about life as a ministry lady, and more about diving deep into our passions. Here's to another fun year here on BecomingBryn!
